Dr. Anderson was born in North East England and studied medicine in London. During his studies he did a medical elective at Broken Hill, NSW.
Following completion of his medical studies and house jobs in London and Cornwall, Dr Anderson had the opportunity to return to Australia as a resident and then registrar at the Townsville General Hospital.
It was here that he started his basic surgical training. He then undertook advanced neurosurgical training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital which included one year of research into the brain tumour, oligodendrogliomas in a Queensland population. Dr Anderson completed his Neurosurgical training at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and Princess Margaret’s Children’s Hospital in Western Australia.
Dr. Anderson spent a year in Canada at the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver as a paediatric neurosurgical fellow before returning to Townsville in 2009.
Dr. Anderson is credentialed to practice in general neurosurgery, spinal surgery and paediatric neurosurgery.
Dr David Anderson has unrestricted registration with the National Medical Board of Australia as a specialist neurosurgeon.
His qualifications include:
- Bachelor of science degree in Physiology, Kings College, University of London (BSc. Hons 1988)
- Medical Degree – Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, University of London. (MB BS 1993)
- Fellowship in Neurosurgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, (FRACS, 2008)
- Dr. Anderson undertook a paediatric neurosurgical fellowship at the B.C. Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, 2008-2009.
